Ian started his electrical career in a range of fields including oil rigs, coal mines and general industrial and commercial contracting before starting his own company in 1986 to service marine, mining and specialist transport services.
His expertise in renewable energy started well before renewables were either fashionable or financially viable, with his first foray being in 1984 with the quoting of the Mary Kathleen uranium mine telemetry project.
Since then he has designed, installed and commissioned a range of renewable projects for industries as diverse as harsh marine environments, through to domestic houses in both industrialised locales and emerging nations.
Ian is so passionate about renewable energy that he has enjoyed up to 30kW of solar PV on his own home continuously for the past 12 years and is actively reviewing various storage technologies for future.
He has also been involved in small power generation in Papua New Guinea consisting of PV between 500W and 5kWs in coastal and highlands regions to micro-hydro systems in the Highlands, along with training for power station operators to the 75MW Hides gas fired facility in Hela.
Ian is a skilled electrotechnology trainer and has lectured in Australia, USA and PNG to both Government and industry and has recently served 3 years as a Board Member of the National Apprenticeship and Trade Testing Board (NATTB) in PNG.
Ian was senior estimator of ASEA Brown Boveri in 1989 and was instrumental in the company being awarded the very first quality assurance recognition under ISO9001 in Qld.
